a great critique of the EU in which, ” Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben has revived the idea of a union of Southern European countries, a proposal first launched by another philosopher, Alexandre Kojève, just after World War II. This “Latin Empire” could act as a counter weight to the dominant role played by Germany in the European Union.”
a very interesting idea and something i saw in greece– greece is NOT european, it is, at best, meddit. greece has more culturally (music, food, climate, history) in common with turkey, israel, and palestine than with europe. honestly there were very very cultural ties one could trace between greece and sweden, for example…
and perhaps this is where we see true political activity so strongly active within greece (riots, autonomous zones, prison breaks…) turn into a broader political power, as it ties together what is left of the radical left in southern europe, based on economic, cultural, and political ties that make sense historically…
